Education
in Jordan
The educational process in Jordan reflects the wise Hashemite
leadership's high interest in providing education opportunities
and achieving integration in providing these opportunities
throughout the kingdom's cities, rural areas, and desert areas,
regardless of sex, language, and religion. This policy has
been enhanced in the educational legislations at all levels;
namely, the Jordanian Constitution; education-related laws;
and the observed regulations, instructions, and principles.
Jordan's education philosophy stems from the Jordanian Constitution,
the Arab and Islamic civilization, the principles of the Great
Arab Revolt, and the Jordanian national experience.
Jordan continued its efforts to bring about a comprehensive
educational development in all fields of the educational process
so that this would positively reflect on students since they
are the core and main objective of this process. Development
included several aspects, including teaching of English in
all classes, computerization of education in the Kingdom's
schools, training teachers and students to have computer skills
so as to simplify the educational process; deepen students'
understanding, and making the educational process more feasible,
useful, and enjoyable. Development also included the establishment
of King Abdullah II Schools for Distinction; the expansion
in setting up government-owned kindergartens in the underprivileged
areas; encouraging the private sector to continue its efforts
in this field; developing special educational programs for
children with learning difficulties; continuing the development
of curricula, books and educational methods; adopting a policy
for sustainable professional development and implementing
the grading system for teachers; and improving schools' buildings,
facilities, and services. Through all these steps, the Ministry
of Education hopes to introduce quality education and teaching,
develop a way of thinking that copes with the age of information
in keeping with his Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Hussein's
vision that Jordan would be a center of information technology
in the region.
